Gas safety certificate - re-test charge?

Hi! My boiler just failed the test for a broken gasket. (The engineer quoted nearly £300 to fix it so I am might get British Gas to come instead as I have cover with them.)
But the engineer said to test again and issue the certificate would cost £60. Is this right? Just wondering why it’s only £45 to book the first time but £60 for a re-test? Thanks!

Is the test for a CP12 certificate? In which case, I would say that £45 quite cheap. I suppose it depends whereabouts in the country you are. Sounds cheeky to raise price for basically the same job.

Get the engineer that does the fix to do a test as part of their quote. THey’re on site and have to test the fixed appliance anyway so likely to be more reasonable .

Yes £45 was very reasonable which is why I booked it through Open Rent! However my boiler has never failed before and I just wasn’t convinced that I should accept the quote for the work without a second opinion, and the second engineer said the repairs aren’t needed at all. But the initial engineer who failed it won’t now issue the certificate without the work being done. How do I know who to trust?

Get the certificate from the engineer who said it was ok
