Went to view a house, the landlord is asking for twice the amount mentioned in the advertisement as a down payment. This will be thrice the rent. Is it ok?
Landlord can ask for as much rent in advance as he wants. The deposit is limited to 5 weeks rent.
How far in advance? A holding deposit is a maximum of 1 weeks rent, but if youre signing the contract now, thats different.
