This is my first time using openrent, although a landlord for 100 years.
I am confused by the referencing. I wanted the full referencing but not the contract creation. Can I do that? If so, how? Thanks in advance.

You can order standalone referencing here: https://www.openrent.co.uk/tenant-referencing
All you need to get going is the tenant’s name, email and phone number.

I thought that’s what I had done but it went straight to Rent Now. I can’t see where I went wrong 
Can I stop the process and switch to just Comprehensive Referencing please?
Hi Abeer, thanks for your reply! Sorry to hear you are having issues here.
I can see that your tenant has clicked the ‘Rent Now’ tab on your advert and placed a holding deposit which you have accepted therefore initiating our ‘Rent Now’ tenancy creation service.
You can cancel this at any point and continue away from ‘Rent Now’ but still keep the referencing ongoing if you wish. I have sent you an email with full instructions on how to do this. We do ask that you keep the applicants informed of what is happening, just to avoid any confusion!
In future you are able to purchase referencing on a stand alone basis through the website, rather than going through ‘Rent Now’ here:

Why isn’t this made clear? I just rejected an applicant who had paid a holding deposit because I didn’t want to use “Rent Now”. I felt very uneasy about this because the message sent to the tenant says I am rejecting their application, which I’m not.
