I understand assured shorthold tenancies will be abolished some time this or next year. I have a number of prospective tenants interested in my property and would like to pick someone who is prepared to stay more long term. I can ask them, but from what I understand there is no way I can legally commit anyone to a minimum stay of, say, two years. Is that correct?
You can all agree on a 2 year term, or any term in the ast.
This is NOT advised. Dont do it, stick with six months.

Once the RRB become law, you wont be able to ask a tenant to stay long term. Tenancies with run month to month or week to week.
