Name mismatch on tenant reference

Hi

I’ve applied for reference for prospective tenants which are in progress. However, the bulk of the income is showing up unverified on the report (not final yet). The reason shows up that the name doesn’t match the bank account. The tenant has a middle name on his passport but he hasn’t put it on his open rent account and even one of his bank account hasn’t got that middle name.

The account with bulk of the income shows an abbreviated name including the middle name and matching surname. This matches the name on the passport.

Wonder if it’ll be fixed in the final report as he cannot pass the affordability checks without his verification.

Anyone else experienced similar?

Thanks

The references I’ve done in the past, are normally quite explanatory when you view them. What does this one say as an explanation?

Thanks for your message Karl. Here’s what it says in the reference report:

The name on the connected bank account is inconsistent with what we’d expect rom this applicant. Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to use thi iccount to verify their income

I wonder why my previous message was flagged by community but then restored by admin

Where you likely copy and pasted the text from the referencing report, the bot thought you were a spammer. Obviously this isn’t the case so I restored the message.

I’ll reach out to the tenants through our customer service email to assist here.

Edit: I can see that you’ve already been in contact with our customer service team who have resolved this now!

Ah that makes sense! Very proactive.

I emailed support and they’ve already made the correction to verify the required income transactions so tenant has passed affordability.

Quick action, better than last high street agent! :ninja:

hello - please just be careful with any discrepancies in names. I had a tenant who caused alot of damage. I have been told I need to claim through the court system so I tried to get legal support and court costs through my legal insurance, but because the tenants had CCJ’s in a version of their name which was 1 letter different (and with an address that they did not disclose during my referencing through OpenRent) then the Legal Insurance said they can’t pursue.

Thanks for the warning Danielle. That is concerning. Tenant added the middle name when signing the contract so now the reference is based on the name without middle name while contract has that included.

I’m wondering if another reference needs to be carried out with the updated full name and whether openrent allows that or perhaps I can apply for that through a third part if the tenant allows
