New landlord question

Hi.
I am due to rent out my house soon and was going to use an agent until i found this site.
However, I am confused regarding fees.
If I use Open rent who pays for the inventory/check in/ check out?
i that a cost the landlord has to pay or will the tenant be charged like they are when using an estate agent.

many thanks

Hi Jane, great to hear you’re going to be using OpenRent - happy to answer your questions!

The key things to remember are:

  • You the landlord only pay for the services you want
  • The only fee tenants have to pay is £20 to cover the cost of referencing if the landlord requires it

As you know, an inventory is a snapshot of the state of condition of the property at the start of the tenancy. Most landlords can perform this themselves and then send the report to the tenant, who then signs it to show they agree that it accurately describes the state of the house.

But you can also order an inventory services from OpenRent here if you’d rather. You can also order a check-in service on the same page.

If you want to conduct the inventory yourself, you can use this free inventory template.
