No reply from gas safety engineer after several days

I’ve paid for a gas safety inspection and boiler service. The engineer responded intitially and ask for my phone number, but hasn’t phoned or repsonded to any messages, over the course of about a week.
I need the engineer to do a small job on the boiler - after I booked the inspection in, the heat adjjustment knob on the boiler broke off, so it needs replacing. I really need to check with the engineer if he can do this.
I am wondering whether I need to cancel and make other arrangements. If you cancel, is the money automatically paid back without hassle?
It is not a very impressive service so far…
