Hi there I am new here just renting property six months before and got a message on WhatsApp from LL want to visit property is it normal because you set your bedrooms and it’s now your personal space.
Regular inspections from landlord should be expected, especially if a new tenant. They need to give at least 24 hours notice, you should be accommodating.
Frequency may vary, every 3 to 6 months is common. Some do monthly.
And yes this includes bedrooms
Whilst landlords are entitled to visit with 24hrs notice. The landlord needs to give appropriate notice which is different than seeking tenant permission. There are a couple of rules that need to be considered to protect tenants:-
Quiet Enjoyment: Tenants have the right to live without unnecessary interference, meaning landlords cannot enter without appropriate notice unless there’s an emergency.
Harassment & Trespassing: Unauthorized entry or repeated attempts to access the property without consent could be considered harassment or trespassing.
Many Landlords would have inspected already. Personally, I try to get out within a month or two of tenant moving in, but then if all in order, would rarely visit more than annually. Personally, its as much about looking re maintenance issues, as is it seeing if tenants are looking after the property.
But in end of contract they can see there property if something bad or damage that’s why tenants give them deposit
Can you guide me about in my property no proper lawn and full of weeds others grass very difficult to cut everytime this lawn full of weeds. I have told owner about this unmanageable lawn to cemented it’s my responsibility to spent money on owner land
They want to check if there’s any maintenance problems IE leaks, mould, that its being looked after correctly and tenant isn’t using it for anything they shouldn’t be.
Prevention is better than cure.
Did you not accept the property with the lawn in the state it is in?
Your contract will almost certainly say that lawn maintenance is tenants responsibility.
As a landlord I always ensure lawns are weed free and tidy before new tenant takes possession. Not all landlords do this unfortunately.
Its the Landlords House. They are responsible for some maintenance tasks. Hence, they need to inspect regularly.
If you have nothing to hide.. you have nothing to fear letting them view.
Many areas now have a licence requirement and part of that license the council requires you to inspect it each 6 months.
Brighton council for example, i have an elderly couple living there four 4 years, now i have to go and inspect regularly which feels a bit intrusive but is a condition of my licence.
Yes Good because I am Pathan and our ladies doing Niqab we don’t like some male look our bedrooms yes only Guest room open for guests
Well, as a LL, I inspect every room every quarter. Bedrooms especially can be places where damp will allow mould to form and as that’s a serious health risk, I make sure that I check them. If you have a cultural requirement, then I suggest you make this known to your LL and either ask a) for a female to inspect your bedrooms or b) to make sure that your ‘ladies’ are not present when the inspection takes place. You cannot stop a LL inspecting your bedrooms on a regular basis. It’s part of their responsibility.
Inspections maybe a legal requirement and maybe mandated by insurance companies.
You will be notified so your wife / other female members will need to wear her / their hijab or leave the property if she / they are uncomfortable.
It cannot be refused for this reason as this is a legal / health and safety assessment .
The inspection will have to occur. Refusing it may arouse suspicion. Some tenants refuse is as they are committing illegal acts such as overcrowding etc
Thank you for your response and Guidance
You are responsible for doing the gardening, it’s your home!
It sounds like you’re trying to hide something . Just be open and honest. The landlord is entitled to inspect every single room. Seriously, grow up!
I am talking about in my home no proper grass if they have grass I will maintain it here no Grass only uneven surface full of weeds and other plants
then make sure it’s tidy and weed it
