I am temporarily in the UK with my wife who is a full-time post graduate candidate. We found a few places on OpenRent and the most recent we would like to rent however only UK debit cards are accepted. Are there any other payment methods available since we don’t have UK bank accounts?

I’m guessing you’re talking about the holding deposit? This is paid to OpenRent rather than direct to the landlord.
I would talk to the landlord and see if they’re open to other arrangements. There’s no legal requirement to put down a holding deposit anyway, it’s just an expression of interest.
But just out of interest, with no UK bank account, how do you propose to pay the rent, once you have a place?
