I find it quite ridiculous that you cannot pay the deposit using a foreign bank account transfer or Revolut. While I understand that OpenRent wants to make sure the tenants are physically in the UK but how can someone new to the UK rent without a bank account, when the bank account needs a physical address! It’s absurd thinking that we will get a physical card delivered to an address we don’t live in and we will be able to pay our securing deposit provided the landlord is ready to wait for you.
And OpenRent’s suggestion was to use friend or family’s cards. Isn’t this just wrong as a suggestion? There needs to be a way around this! This is 2025!
