I am facing landlords and agencies who are either after questioning me about my finance( on benefits universal credit and pip) and have a mortgage free working home owner guarantor, rejecting me, or never calling me back for viewing, agency telling to to go view but landlord rejecting I’m on benefits after viewing ( washing my benefits money on taxi to go view) I am a current existing renter in HADELY WOOD I ONLY WANT TO MOVE BECAUSE THE PROPERTY I LIVE IN IS LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF A STEEP HILL WHICH IS MAKING ME BACK WORSE BY THE DAY. is your income at least 2.5 times more than the rent cost of the properties you are applying for?
Does the housing benefit element cover the cost of rent? I imagine it doesn’t.
RG insurance that many landlords have requires at least 2.5 to 3 times the rent as income. Some will only look at the housing benefit element.
The renters rights act has made things far worse for tenants, especially those at the low income and unemployed end. Those deemed as higher risk will have even less of a chance unfortunately.
You should volunteer your full circumstance’s before viewing and explain the guarantors circumstances. Also make sure you’re being realistic about affordability.
