@Priscila if you paid via OpenRent and have been contacting agents to try to get keys to move in I’d suggest
A) check your AST which will say who you should be contacting (possibly the Landlord not the agent)
B) tell Openrent support asap. They hold on to 1st months rent for up to 10 working days after start of tenancy exactly so rogue LLs/rogue agents can’t take the rent but not hand over the keys. If you don’t get the keys soon they will refund you
Wasn’t the landlord was an agent, front this agency tbh i thought it was openrent because was the same procedure, ive done before was exactly the same way, i have no where else to go now my place was rented my things are all on boxes my daughter too, I don’t have family in uk I have a friend but can’t help me in any way, I don’t know what to do now.
I check everything I paid £29 to do the check was all legitimate, I went there and all I don’t know what’s going on even the website of the property is gone not found, the numbers can’t be reached
Hi Priscilla, I am so sorry and honestly horrified this has happened to another person, please report this. I was also due to move in yesterday and it’s a scam. Go to the concierge and report this, happy to help!
Hi Naomi do you know this ppl has happened to you? Have you been see the property? Yes the place was about to get ready on the 15th I should get the key soon after
Have you rent the same place? I’m honestly in shock I don’t know what I’ll do now, I have no money no family no house it’s just me and my daughter and my current address was rented already
This sounds like an illegal fee as landlords are not allowed to charge tenants such fees. Report this listing to Openrent and contact the Council Trading Standards with your evidence.
Hey, me and my friend were also supposed to move into this property today but we haven’t been able to get in contact with Leon at all. I’m sorry to hear you are going through the same thing, it’s awful.
@priscila@max28 I don’t know if I can put my number on here but I would love to have a call and see if there is a way we can put our heads together in making a case against these people.
Hi, I’m currently in the exact same situation with Leon Kingsland and a property in E16.
I viewed the property in person, signed a tenancy agreement and made payment of 1st months rent and deposit via a SumUp link. I was due to move in TODAY but have been unable to contact him since we tried to confirm yesterday morning.
Has anyone else had any update on accessing the property or figuring out details ? Would really appreciate any info as I’m trying to understand what’s going on and correlate information.
Yes, go to the building manager in the concierge a few buildings down and they will take a statement. It’s the best chance at ensuring they don’t continue to do this to other people as they are posing as the landlord.
