Identity verification UK passport or driver’s license. If not a UK citizen you will have to provide a share code or residency visa. I believe it also helps if you are registered to vote.

We’ve just accepted a T like this. But only because she is a Verified Tenant with Open Rent (will cost you £10 +VAT). I suggest you become a verified T, too. This way, you will have more landlords open to rent to you = more options to chose from.

It’ll also involve character referencing. If you know someone personally with status in the community, e.g. a vicar, doctor, solicitor, headteacher, social worker etc. then it’s worth approaching them to ask if they will provide a character reference. This would be in addition to a character reference from an employer (who will also confirm details like income and employment status).
