Hi all,

Thank you.
Openrent is an advertising portal for properties available to rent. They also offer an ‘add on’ service which they call ‘Rent Now’. This allows the Landlord to sign a digital rental agreement with the new tenants, and the Rent Now service also collects the deposit & first months rent, and lodges the ‘my deposits’ protection scheme.
A ‘Rent Now’ Landlord is a Landlord who has made use of that service.
Thanks Karl,
So am I right in thinking the tenant can do a virtual viewing and say yes online? I’m trying to work out how this is more convenient for either party.
On a similar note, perhaps you have a view of varified tenants, is it genuinely helpful for landlords?
Apologies for the confusion and thank you.
It has nothing to do with online viewings. It only has to do with what services Openrent provide the Landlord, as I have summarised, and as their website shows clearly Pricing - The Online Letting Agent with No Hidden Fees | OpenRent
If you are a Landlord that just wishes to advertise their property, and sort the rest of the paperwork themselves, then don’t use RentNow.
For tenants, some have posted on here about being nervous paying Landlords directly, whereas Rent Now gives them the reassurance that things are above board. In times where scams are common, I think this is good for tenants.
A verified tenant has paid a fee which at the point of application, shows they have passed a credit check. It does not go in depth on checks, as a full reference does.
In my opinion it’s just a way of OR obtaining a fee and doesn’t really add any value at all for me as a landlord.
The rent now landlord status works against those who do not use the rent now service, which in this forum alone is a high number. So good landlords get dismissed by some tenants. As with many things it’s a two-edged sword.
I understand now, thank you for taking the time to clarify.
