Rent payment not received – tenancy started 1 January

Hello,

I am the landlord for a property let via Openrent.

The tenant paid the deposit and first month’s rent in November through OpenRent. The tenancy started on 1 January, and the tenant moved in on that date in accordance with the contract. As of 7 January, I have not received the first month’s rent into my bank account.

Could you please:

  1. Confirm the current status of the rent payment

  2. Advise whether any checks or confirmations are outstanding

  3. Confirm when the rent will be released to my account

The tenant is already in occupation, and all landlord bank details are correctly entered in my account.

I would appreciate this being looked into as a matter of urgency.

It has only been 3 1/2 ‘working days’ since the tenancy started. Wow, how quickly do you think it should happen?

You would’ve received emails explaining that the first month’s rent is paid over to the landlord within 10 days. Be patient.

“When exactly will the landlord receive the first month’s rent?
The payment is made 10 days after the contractual move in date. Where this date falls on a bank holiday, the payment will be made on the next working day.

For example, if the move in date is 01/01/25, the payment of the first month’s rent would be made to the landlord on 11/01/25.”
