Rent taken twice

I’ve moved out a property yet openrent has taken the money to pay the property for 1 more monrh

  • how do I get my money back
    AND
    stop openrent from taking payments?

Have you given appropriate notice to the landlord that you are moving out and terminating the tenancy?

Surely if you contacted your bank they would be able to stop any future payments.

The payment taken after moving out may have something to do with the notice period given and anyone on this forum would need to know when your rent is due, when the fixed period ended and when you gave notice to be able to answer your question.

Yes. I gave them a +1 month notice.
I managed to stop the openrent standing order.
I want my money back.

You really need to contact OpenRent about it.

If you are paying by ‘Standing Order’, then this type of instruction is only in your control, and Openrent or your Landlord have no control. You were the one who set it up with your bank, and are the only one who can modify or cancel it.

I don’t use Openrent to collect rent on my tenancies, but having had a little google, it does appear that they use Standing Order, not Direct Debits.
