Original AST which was given to my tenant is finishing end of december . He had 6 month AST to start with . Should I create new 12 months AST for extra security or just go with rolling one ( which Ive done with other tenants in past ) ?

rolling is always what I do with good tenants
Just let it become rolling periodic. No work for you.
Ive got rolling contract with other tenants but with this one Im not sure because it took quite a while to get property rented so I would like to have it as secure as possible .
Fixed tenancies are a false sense of security. S**t still happens and tenants need to leave. Its a foolish landlord who tries to prevent this.
