Security alarm in soon-to-be-rented property

I’m going to be renting out my primary residence for 5 years whilst my partner is posted elsewhere for work. We have a security alarm, and I’m not sure how best to manage this with tenants. Having the alarm obviously should reduce insurance premiums etc however it’s a system enabled/disabled by physical fobs, the reset code is a date special to us and ditto the security answers. I’m not paying for monitoring linked directly to call handlers etc, but I do worry that if the tenants accidentally set it off, they won’t be able to reset it and this will bother all the neighbours.

Am I better off excluding the alarm from the tenancy agreement and asking them not to use it at all?

yep

If I was renting a property with a security alarm, I would fully expect to have use of it as I am the one living there and it is my possessions that would potentially be stolen or damaged in a break-in. Change the code and answers so that the tenant can make use of the facility. Make sure they have full instructions on how to use the system - preferably original installer/manufacturer so that you cannot be accused of not having explained its use properly.
