Tenant bringing own white goods

In a few days, I will have a tenant moving out of a small one-bedroomed house.

I have a new tenant who will be moving in, once I have the place ready to let.

The new tenant lives only a few doors away, in the same terrace and is only moving as his landlord is going to live in the house. He has a long proven record as a superb tenant and has worked locally for many years locally, in the same job.

I have a washing machine installed in the house, less than 2 years old and a stand alone fridge freezer, which a previous tenant left me.

The new tenant says he has his own fridge freezer and washing machine, almost brand new and wishes to bring them with him to my property.

I can’t see an issue with this and feel it is a perfectly reasonable request.

I am very local to the property.

In my shoes, would you be tempted just to sell the washing machine and give the fridge freezer away to anyone who collects or would you hire a van and have them delivered to my own garage at home?

Other landlords must have had similar.

Thank you.

If you don’t need them you can sell or give it away on face book gum tree etc give it away on freecycle etc

If it were me I’d keep them
They come in handy for another house
If this is your only rental I would nt bother keeping tgem

There are charities who will take it for some seeking refuge from violent partners
The local authority housing team may be thankful for them

Yes, I have also thought about a local charity, who will take them for free and sell them cheaply for people who are on low incomes.

I let another house out, but that has a washing machine and fridge/freezer already in.

Thank you.

Yes, I’d probably do exactly as you suggest.

My experience has been that the regular charity shops on the High Street, generally won’t accept electrical goods. I would attempt to sell (buyer collects) failing that Currys run a recycling scheme where you can drop off any unwanted white goods to the store for free.
