Hello so i am a British citizen but thought id fail the credit check so we started a rent now in my husbands name. He is not a British citizen he is on a spouse visa and currently waiting for his indefinite leave to remain.
Anyway yesterday we initiated the rent now he passed the credit checks but the LL said he couldn’t be verified.
I decided to pay to verify myself and it seems that i have passed the soft credit search on myself which is great.
My question is how does my husband get verified what would he need to do.
Its so difficult to get rent we seem to be getting nowhere
If your husband is not a British citizen, he may have difficulty passing a credit check because he does not have a credit history in the UK. However, he may be able to provide other documentation to the landlord to prove his financial stability, such as:
A letter from his employer confirming his employment and income
Bank statements showing that he has a positive account balance
A letter from his bank confirming that he has a good credit history in his home country
Until your husband passes a credit check, you may need to consider renting the property in your name only and continuing until he has improved his credit rating. Happy to help with suggestions on that if you get stuck on anything.
Are you sure the Landlord used the terminology ‘verified’, as this would suggest he’s referring to Openrent tenant ‘verified’ options, which I’m not sure would be relevant to a Landlord once a tenant has been chosen. More important is the credit check, and the Right to Rent Checks.
I would seek clarification from the Landlord what they are after. If its the credit check they are concerned about, then @Darren34 suggestions might be relevant.
I assume he is eligible for UK Right to Rent, so this will be easy to prove via the Gov Right to Rent code.
Hello thanks for your reply. Thats the thing his credit check has passed its the ID check that failed. Ive since found out that the LL will need to do a check with the Home Office.
