The landlord doesn't want conclude a contract through OpenRent

Please tell me,this is my first rental experience. I found suitable housing on OpenRent, but the landlord does not want to enter into a contract through OpenRent. He lives in a house in which he rents out a room and says that OpenRent only has an AST contract, but another type of contract is needed. This is fine?

The landlord is correct. If you are renting a room in the landlords house a lodgers agreementis required. ASTs are used when the tenant has exclusive rights to a property and not sharing facilities with the landlord. Many landlords use OpenRent as a platform to advertise their properties and use their own agreements.
