Tree cutting in garden

Hi I wonder if someone could kindly help. I need a large tree cut down in our garden ( it blocks light from the kitchen and leaves most of the garden in shade) and I wonder whether I can log this as a “taxable expense” against the income received from the tenants. Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks Steve

I assume it meets the test of being wholly related to the business, so the only question is whether its necessary and justifiable and I would have thought that you could argue that relatively easily. I would certainly log it as a revenue expense.

Thanks David really appreciate your advice

Is in your garden, or the tenants’ garden, or a shared garden?

Hi thanks for your reply. it’s in the tenants garden

In which case then, yes, claim away

Many thanks for your help Cath……much appreciated
