Both parties have been ignorant in thinking that the situation would work, it hasn’t and it won’t.
Expecting someone to not leave windows open in their own home is unreasonable in my opinion. It’s inevitable someone will just forget sometimes. Leaving open to get rid of food smells is normal, as is when it’s hot.
Did you discuss and agree in advance that windows cannot be left open? Personally there is no way I would tolerate such restrictions on my life!

mark 10 is correct. You are not being provoked at all . Keep the cat in your bedroom . To expect someone else to look after your cats interest is not reasonable
Sounds like the landlady is being quite reasonable. Lock the cat in your room whilst the window is open or move.
