beside making sure with the energy company and the water company the tenantes account was closed?
I would imagine and im.NOT a landlord
They would check the decoration of the house to make sure its either as agreed or as let
They would check fir any damage to the property that is NOT usual wear and tear
Check that the tenant if they have already moved out hasnt left items that need disposing of
I dont think (and I MAY be wrong) thay the landlord contacts the Utility Companies I wouldve thought the leaving tenant would do that
that has nothing to do with the deposit. The LL will take readings and inform the utility companies that they are responsible from midnight on day of checkout and anything up to that point is between the tenant and utility companies.
Both tenant and LL should do this - ideally both providing the same meter readings.
Same for council tax… although without the meter readings.
