When will the EIC (document received after new installation) expire?

Hi,
One of our rental properties was rewired 5 years ago and we received an EIC after the installation.

It says Next Inspection Date as “I recommend that this installation is further inspected and tested after an interval of not more than 10 years or change of tenancy.

Tenancy is changing soon. Is it mandatory to get an EICR at the time of tenancy change or can we use the EIC for 5 more years (to finish the 10 year period)?

Thanks

You need to have an EICR every 5 years regardless of if the previous certificate suggests longer.

What I have is EIC (the document which we receive after the installation).

It’s the same thing
Electrical Installation Condition Report
You also need a Part P certificate for a rewire so it complies with buildings regulations
I would ask your electrician for this

An EIC can ONLY be used instead of an EICR immediately after the property is built or rewired.

After this an EICR is the certificate you need.

I would say you should get an EICR 5 years after the EIC was issued
