Hi i came all the way from Southampton to veiw a property on here yesterday to get there to be told it has gone never got a email or nothing and i spent over a 1000 pound on hotel and train tickets for it
Wow, I’ve just had 7 nights in Tenerife for less than that. I didn’t realise train tickets & hotels were so expensive!
Seriously though, I assume you communicated how far you were travelling with the prospective Landlord & specifically asked that they inform you if arrangements changed, as that would have been the least I would have done had I been investing so much in a viewing.
It was impolite of the Landlord not to keep you informed.

Expensive! Did you speak with them on phone or message them to highlight the lengths you were going to?

Had you informed the LL that you were travelling to see the property (and if so how far)
Why was it necessary to get a hotel surely a potential viewing dosent take a full day so book a train back also it was obviously your choice to stay over
A potential tenant had a similar issue with my property a few weeks ago. I was using OR for the first time so hopefully I did everything correctly.
They requested a viewing and I scheduled them a viewing at a time they said they would be available.
It was a weekend and they requested for the viewing to be rescheduled for Monday evening as they were going away for that weekend. I obliged.
A suitable couple viewed on that weekend and I accepted their holding deposit pending references.
My understanding is that the listing is suspended and all interested parties are sent notifications to tell them the property is under offer.
The prospective tenant apparently showed up to view on Monday evening as previously arranged. I am sure they would have received an email notification that the property is under offer.

The phrase Under offer does not exactly mean .It has gone.
I just don’t think emails and messages carry the same weight as a phone call. They can be missed more easily.

We were communicating via the OR platform. We hadn’t exchanged phone numbers at the pre-viewing stage.
Under offer means “make a better offer”
