Boiler Service via OpenRent

Hi there,

About to start renting out a flat for the first time and got the safety checks and service done via Open Rent. It all passed which was good but unsure if the engineer actually did a service or not?

I had a certificate left but nothing else. How do I know that a service was carried out and what would be the proof of this? What kind of things do they do as a boiler service via OpenRent?

I asked the guy and he said it was done but due to the fact no sticker was put on the boiler or anything else to confirm/record it was done, I’m a little dubious and wouldn’t mind some reassurance or advice please?

Cheers

Boiler service equals sucking dust out and rarely anything more. Sticker or not they are pretty pointless.

Sensible Gas engineers refuse to disassemble any components especially on older boilers as opens up a can of worms (iE breaking seals causing reassembly issues, seized components etc).

In some instances unfortunately needed to validate boiler warranty.

IMO the only meaningful boiler servicing would be conducted by a specialist of a particular brand, who carries spares, even then they can only carry parts for so many boiler models.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it and may look at skipping it next time then as long as it passes the safety check.
