Can laid off tenants simply claim benefits and continue to pay rent?

Am I oversimpllyfying things?
Both my flats rent out at slightly above the benefits rent allowance for a single person in my area.

Hi Jim, on Friday it was announced that Local Housing Allowance is going to be raised significantly. This may change things for you?

In general, there’s no immediate reason why someone transitioning onto benefits won’t be able to pay the rent, as long as their new income is high enough.
