DSS tenants/Joint Tenancy

Hey everyone,

So, first of all, belated Happy New Year to all of you.

We’re 2 friends, looking to rent a place.

I’ve got two genuine questions:

  1. is the Joint Tenancy a preferred/common agreement offered by OR/LLs? As I understand it legally, it would be the best-case scenario to ensure we can both continue to claim HB separately, when renting a 2-bed flat together.

  2. I spent a fair amount of time reading Community testimonies regarding DSS tenants so my second question would be this: what are our actual chances of finding a place on Openrent right now with DSS, and what can we do to stand out to any potential LL?

I would kindly ask you all for any advice, especially from an experienced LL/DSS tenant. I just want to be well-prepared before I start sending out queries, to avoid wasting anyone’s time.
