EICR identified consumer unit needs replacing

So I just had my EICR by the electricians and they have identified that the consumer unit needs replacing as it only has 1 RCD.

I have no clue when it comes to electrics - has anyone on the forum had a similar verdict on their report?

This is going to cost me £500 to rectify which is pretty gutting!

600 is a rip off A 6 way split consumer unit Metal clad can be had for £60 to £70. I have just fitted 3 and each one took me half a day each

Thanks for the info, I got it for 430 in the end and given my lack of electrical experience I don’t mind paying.

Hi, I had a similar issue with a firm via Openrent who failed the EICR and wanted £1800 to pass and fix a few bulbs another electrician did everything including another EICR for £240. Beware there are a lot of scammers going around milking the EICR process.
