i suspect it is for clothes rope.
can anyone tell me how is it called?
any ideas how to use this thing?

This looks like an old fashioned pulley system thay wouldve been used to retract the washing line however it no longer looks operational
What is the blue rope attached too??? Is that your washing line the metal thing you pictured looks obsolete now

Yes, its a laundry line pulley. My Mum still uses exactly this system. Her pulley has been in action for over 50 years. Looking at the condition of the one in the image, I reckon its still good.

Nothing connected to it though prob not worrh the hassel of atyempting it now just use a washing line like everyone else does

The blue rope is attached to the hook in the wall, the same hook to which the pulley is attached.
Yes, that’s my washing line. I just attached it to the hook in the wall and wrapped around a concrete pole at the end of the garden.

I watched a couple of videos and will use this system too. It is very simple and effective.
