Is it important for tenants to be present at checkout?

My tenants want to leave around 7am on a Sunday. This means the checkout officer will have to do his job without the tenants being presnt. Is this a problem?
I know the check out officer takes photos of any damage / issue that is likely to result in a deduction from the deposit. However, does the fact that tenants will not be present mean the check out is no good if the tenants ended up disputing any deduction.
Kindly advise.

Its not an issue for the tenant not to be present.

Inwouldve thought in an.ideal situation yes the tenant may WANT to be there so as to justify any claims or anything arising from.the check out if the tenant is leaving at 7am (on a sunday) is it not possible to do a check with tennant last thing sat with pics etc and then pop in Sunday or Monday to check everything against the pics from Sat if there is a difference then take the appropriate action against tenant

You just need to give the tenant the opportunity to be there, it’s their choice not to be.

Send them a copy of the checkout condition report, then advise of what deductions you are making.

Or, if possible, take a look before they leave and advise of what deductions you are planning to make. This gives them a) a chance to rectify it so you don’t have to and b) an idea of how contentious any deductions are likely to be.
