New member to Open Rent - advertised apartment, secured tenant, opted for the comprehensive reference, tenant is Co-Op Bank customer, being told that Open Rent can’t link the account…now won’t allow them top process referencing further. Any thoughts/views/advice please?
I know this doesn’t answer your question, but fu nily enough my guarantor had the issue with lloyds bank!! Stalllled now… why?? Hard to get answers from OpenRent team
Hi,
You can find a list of banks that support Open Banking in our Help Centre here:
Where a tenants bank does not support Open Banking they are able to opt out of this and proceed with the reference form.
Kind regards,
Leo
Use an independent referencing agency. I think the NRLA offer theirs to non-members.
@David122 How do you think this would help? Happy for a review or comparison of the NRLA reports vs. OpenRent reports, but otherwise I’m not sure this is a helpful or insightful comment. Open banking is a standard, so either the bank supports it or it doesn’t.
And just to re-iterate Leo’s comment above:
Where a tenants bank does not support Open Banking they are able to opt out of this and proceed with the reference form.
Because @John133 said the referencing company wont progress things any further. Referencing was taking place long before open banking was a thing. Referencing companies used other methods to establish affordability. If the openrent referencing will do this after all, then fine. Otherwise the OP should just find one that will.
There was an option to ignore the Open Banking because Co-op hasn’t signed up to it so the tenant could continue in the end…annoying that they don’t as it really doesn’t provide a true full picture in one place and altogether
