Issues with totalproperty.co.uk (MyDeposits)

So my tenants moved out yesterday and i need to send them back there deposit less the cost of the cleaning which they have already agreed too. however when I log onto Totalproperty.co.uk who are holding the deposit there online chat isn’t working and they have no phone number…

Why on earth did Open Rent choose such cowboys?!

I can’t see an option to deduct expenses from the deposit ?

Click on ‘start release request’ and it comes up on the next screen

I don’t know, I didn’t go any further, but have always found the process straight forward, so am surprised its not clearer.

I would imagine its your bank details, as you have no reason to know the tenants bank details, and presumably they will be asked for this.

This is the rebrand of MyDeposits - possibly a brand you have heard of and the largest tenancy deposit scheme in the UK. Sorry to hear they’ve let you down here.

The government has a very limited list of approved deposit providers which we, and all landlords and agents, are forced to deal with. See more information about that here:

However, for all new tenancies starting earlier in the year we’ve totally smoothed out this process so it’s all handled on OpenRent without the need to interact with, often extremely poor, deposit providers. This includes tenancies in England, Wales, and Scotland. So hopefully next time you won’t need to deal with any third party provider and we’ll make this much simpler for you!

Ok but they have released a new website with the chat function not working. Even I know you should never put a website to live if it’s missing a key feature… in the end I contacted my deposit website which still works…
