Hello,

When setting up a new Open Rent contract if the tenants partner wishes to be a permitted occupier rather than a joint tenant, does Open Rent allow you to add this when setting up the contract?

Has anyone doe this? If so how?

Permitted Occupier is not a legal status, so it doesnt really need to be part of the contracting process. You can just write a letter of permission to the tenant or even just do it verbally. However:

  1. You need to Right to Rent check them
  2. You cant accept rent from them
  3. You need to check with your insurance/mortgage/lease to make sure its permitted.
