Hi, I need feedback from landlords.
My daughter lived and worked in the Netherlands for several years. She’s recently moved back and is renting a room from a friend.
She’s in full time employment. She’s no credit cards or loans, and has excellent rental references.
Would any landlord refuse to rent to her given her poor credit reference in the UK?
Some will still let to her. Sensible ones would ask for a guarantor.
Having savings may help, and paying 6/12 months rent in advance.
References cant be relied upon.
Very competitive for tenants.
Take hard copies of bank statements going back to at least 6 months prior to her moving back to the UK. That will show a prospective LL that a) she’s serious about providing evidence b) she’s willing to do the legwork for the LL in advance and c) that she has a proven track record of paying rent, saving and maintaining her finances.
And get her to work on her credit score - get a credit card & use it sensibly, get on the electoral roll & never miss a payment for anything.
