If a holding deposit is paid and referencing accepted, when is the main deposit paid. I assume this and the first months rent must be a few days before getting the keys but want to check if there is a general process for when these payments should be made
After the agreement has been signed digitally, but before moving day.
that said, I believe the agreement says that you will pay the first months rent and the security deposit as soon as the contact has been signed, so you need to check with your prospective Landlord that they are ok with it before move-in
@Lee63 think it’s normally between signing and move in date because LLs will want to receive before handing over keys, and dont want to be waiting for a bank transfer to go through (even tho often instant, can easily be 24h or longer if weekend), nor do tenants want to be stressing about whether they will get keys on the day.
LLs will obv want as soon as possible. But it can be tricky cashflow wise for tenants who may be waiting for return of deposit from previous place or depending when payday is, so often something to be negotiated/discussed between new tenant and LL.
