Prospective tenant claims they cannot see my email address

A prospective tenant has viewed my property. Before putting them though to reference checking I want to validate their income. I have messaged them asking for 3 months payslips to be sent to me by email (since the message portal doesnt support attachments).
The prospective tenant claims they cannot see my email address in the portal because OpenRent obfuscates it.

I dont think it is unreasonable for me to request a copy of their payslips to confirm affordability before putting though to reference checking.

Can any confirm if this is correct?

I don’t use the portal but do it directly myself
I have given the tenant my email and received statements etc before referencing
I just gave them the email at viewing when they decided they wanted it

I just created another account as a tenant, and made a fake enquiry on the property. The prospective tenant isnt wrong, the platform does create a warning however you can click through to see the email address.
I worry they dont want to provide the payslips because it doesnt support their income claims which is a shame.

I’ve shared my email address through the portal for this same reason, and no problems.

I would avoid
Go with your gut
I’ve just broken my rules, after taking my eye off the ball, and am praying I can get a s21 before RRB comes in .
