Hi.
We plan to raise the rent and want to make sure that it’s legally correct. TT moved in on 30/09 last year.
- If the rent increase is due from 30/09 this year, is it still considered within a year or the next year and allowed?
- Do we still need to give them minimum one month or there’s a new legislation (say, minimum 2 months) that I’m not aware of?
Thank you.
Does your tenancy agreement have a rent review clause? If so, you must follow that. If not, its probably best to agree it informally. You can use a s13 notice, (form 4) if you think the tenants won’t agree it. You can agree the increase with them now to start on 30 September.
