Hello. I’ve discovered my previous tenants have left a load of debt behind when they moved out of my flat and left the country in May. (They don’t owe me any money - this is all credit cards and utilities, etc.)
I’ve just picked up a load of demand letters for them sent to my flat.
I’m wondering the best way to deal with it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I do have a forwarding address for them overseas but I don’t know how reliable it is.
I send all post like this back to sender marked “no longer at this address”.
Octopus energy would not stop sending demands to address despite being told verbally the tenant had moved on, as they didn’t have a forwarding address.
More likely to get them to stop if you call and advise.
Whether or not you decide to pass on forwarding address is down to you.
Just send them back marked no longer at this address, if letters keep coming back ring the companies and tell them this, and that any more mail for them will be binned. Pointless sending on a forwarding address if its abroad.
