My current estate agent is acting as my referee, but they have been unable to receive any emails from OR. They have checked their junk/spam folder, contacted their IT department, tried multiple email addresses, and even added their UK mobile number, but nothing has worked.
To try to resolve the issue, my estate agent sent the reference directly to OR and even offered to confirm it over the phone, but OR refused to accept it.
We’ve contacted OR several times, but we keep being given the same advice: check the junk folder, contact IT, and use the unique code. We’ve already done all of these things, so we seem to be going around in circles without any progress.
Why can’t OR simply send the reference form link directly to my referee via SMS? Has anyone else experienced a similar issue, and if so, how was it resolved?
Get agent to provide a different email address on a different system could be their company firewall is quarantining the OR email or alternatively that OR is rejecting it.
Get OR to provide a screenshot of the email they have sent and check details are correct, agent can then check at their end
Hi David, thank you for your reply! I will see if it’s possible for our estate agent to use a personal email instead of a company email that seems to be blocking open rent emails. I’m hoping that OR don’t flag this as suspicious.
We eventually managed to resolve the issue. In the end, we gave up on the email link and our new landlady had to request the form from OR and send it directly to our estate agent so they could complete our referencing. It was quite a faff, but thankfully our new landlady was super patient and helpful. Hope this helps!
