Im pretty sure a national insurance number does not confirm id but thanks for your response…

it can help in tracing people. I was traced thru a nat ins number for a payment of a long lost insurance policy

It doesn’t confirm ID the way a passport does but it sure makes referencing easier to have both.

Hi Charly,

The national insurance number is used to obtain a reference from the employer referee. For larger companies, it can help the employer to locate the applicant. If you do not have one or do not wish to provide it, you can leave the field blank on the form.

Best wishes,

Lisa

It can trace you and find if you are on the tax system!
It’s one of the most effective ways to check someone out ie if on benefits or paye or s/e
And if you are over 16 and don’t have one then it’s a problem

Are you connected with Reportzip in any way Zack? Your post comes scross as advertorial, (unpaid).

It’s spam. “Zack” has written the same post word for word on other threads, and has also been flagged by other users as spam so probably best to just ignore.

In this instance they were requesting the letter of issue of prospective tenants national insurance number… to prove it is their number, made no sense to me as also a student with guarantor?

If you do not want to give the number then do not do it. It is your choice
