Should rent increase mechanism be in Welsh contract

In previous Open Rent tenancy agreements a rent increase mechanism was in the tenancy agreement. With Wales going to Contracts we have used the std Open Rent contract but there is no mechanism or mention for how to signal/plan rent increases. Does this need to be in (added to) the contract?

I don’t know the rules in Wales, but suspect that rent review clauses are invalid, as they will be in England soon. Do you not have to serve a notice instead to propose a new rent?

Rent review clauses are not included in tenancy agreements in Wales. You may increase the rent either by agreement with the tenant or by entering into a new occupation contract at the end of the fixed term. If you allow the tenancy to continue as a periodic tenancy after the fixed term has ended then you may increase the rent by using form RHW12.
