Hi my tenants have demanded that i stay in the property all day while the builders complete the necessary works. I have explained to them that i would only be able to give access to the builders as I work and help care for my mum. But they still demand i stay in the property, not sure where i stand with this
Your rules, not theirs. They can demand all they want.

that is unreasonable .If they do not trust the builders then tell them the job cannot be done.I am a builder/joiner , if i found out a tenant had said this to a landlord on a job I would say “find someone else, I am out of here”

In my long years as a Builder i have had customers go on holiday whilst we worked on their houses. 90% of them were at work during the day.and just gave us a set of keys
Tell them no, this is not reasonable
