Stuck between Job or Moving

Without burdening you with redundant information, the story is this: i’m a lodger / living with relative who doesn’t own any part of the house we’re living in but whose partner (very ill and poorly) is our LL.
In any unfortunate circumstance should the worst happen or they’re placed in care, I will have the following choices:

Either I move into my relatives home far away (100 miles approx), therein surrendering my minimum wage job; new area may bring new challenges or even harder to secure a job due to it’s more seasonal environment;

or apply to any house sharing arrangement in the private sector in my area. SH is not viable as i’m placed on lowest priority and the council have said the average wait is 20 months for a 1 bed single male. At least with private renting there’s the chance of being close to employment at the cost of meeting new people (which can be difficult to cope with due to social anxiety).

Private sector studio / 1 bed flats are in the region of double my wages, working on increasing my hours but still would be spending most on rent without any for food, tax or utilities.

TL:DR . should I move with relatives giving up a permanent low-pay job role? or find a house share that is affordable but might not get along with housemates but keep the job?

If you are generally happy in your job and area you live, think I’d try for another house share.

You can go back to the relative a 100 miles away at any time I assume?

Maybe call Shelter/CAB and find out what the procedure would be if anything happened to the LL.

I’m with Mr_T. Exhaust your local options first and use your safety net only if you have to.

If the first house share doesn’t work, try another. Some landlords encourage you to meet the other housemates to see how you all fit. Remember this is a two way test.
