Tenant asked for a virtual viewing

I am wary of giving out my number to potential tenants who have asked for a video call to view the property, after I offered to conduct a viewing on the same day but they declined. Has anyone else done this?
Thank you!

Hi,

Yes I have done this and I used a secondary phone with another number. We did a WhatsApp video call.

I had a huge amount of applicants and narrowed it down to 7 I was happy to move forward with for viewing and only had one day to cover them. Sadly my preferred tenant couldn’t make it but he offered to video in.

All went well and my preferred tenant actually went ahead with property with only having had the video viewing and then we subsequently met.

Of course I made sure he had his video on as well

Hope this helps

I have used a video app called Vimeo (other apps are available) and you just upload the video and send them the link. Although this doesn’t prove when the video was taken, you could perhaps include a shot of the front cover of a current newspaper or perhaps play a news channel on the radio while filming. It’s not perfect but another option.

Hi Evey,

Thank you so much for your response, this is very helpful. A secondary number is a great idea! I will try this, I’m glad that you managed to secure your preferred tenant!

Hi Chris,

This is a great idea, thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!

you can have one phone with 2 SIM cards, every Apple after iphone 11 can do this, and one can be a real card and the other virtual, its surprisingly easy to use 2 cards in 1 phone

Thanks for the tip. My phone contract is up for renewal and will give iPhone some serious consideration.

I do this on my Samsung S10. One SIM for LL stuff and one for my personal stuff.
