Tennat introduction fee

Hi, the letting agency contacted me, stating that I must pay the tenant introduction fee. They said the tenant had already arranged with the letting company, but the tenant saw the property on Openrent and contacted me directly.

We agreed to proceed via Openrent, and now I am concerned. Do I need to pay the fees to the letting agency even if we both used Openrent? I have not signed any paperwork or agreed with the letting agency. They shared no contact information of anyone who has viewed the property apart from the name and income.

Can you assist with this matter?

surely the letting agency did not advertise on openrent? Get a letter from tenant saying he saw it on openrent and had no contact with the agent

Can they give you proof of this?

I’m confused. Ether you manage yourself via Openrent, or have appointed an Agent. Which? Or have you done both?

If you have appointed an agent, and given them any instructions to act for you, you will be tied into their T & C’s. This might be the case even if you have not signed any contract.
