Unwanted auto generated message

I have never used the Rent Now service and do not want to. Today an auto generated message was sent to a potential tenant “““I would prefer to use OpenRent’s Rent Now service. It’s a professional and secure way to transfer money, handle deposits and sign a tenancy. Half a million tenants and landlords already benefit.

You can click the “Request Holding Deposit” button to [start my application](javascript:void(0)).”””

How can I stop this happening as it is confusing and unwanted.

@mod_harry Are you able to help Lynda?

Hi @Lynda

I’m sorry to hear that this has caused some confusion.

This is an auto-generated message which informs you of the benefits of Rent Now. Rest assured that this is only visible to you as the landlord and does not in any way affect your communication with tenants.

You can find out more about Rent Now here:

she doesn’t want to find out more about a service she’s clearly stated she has no desire to use.

How can your users prevent getting messages about services like Rent Now which they do not want?

Or is this, as I suspect, something users have no choice but to endure?

That’s like saying “how can I stop ITV showing me ads for their other shows?” - it works in OpenRent’s best interest to promote their own services and it would be a commerically poor decision for them to turn this off or provide an option to do so.

No, it’s like saying “If I pay ITV, they turn off the ads. Why doesn’t OR turn off the ads even after I’ve paid them.”

Not when you’re watching the live telly, plus that doesn’t turn off the trailers for the other shows either.

I’m assuming that these “ads” are only shown to people who haven’t paid for the service…

Anyway, it’s not hard to just ignore it.

Thank you. Firstly it certainly is not clear that this was only visible to me and not a potential tenant. Will this ad continually pop up whilst I am looking for a new tenant. Is there no way it can be stopped.

Well it’s a “commercially poor decision” to spam your customers with extras when they’re already paying you for a service they have chosen to use.

Let’s see…

@Lynda

You can stop it by no longer using OR. Otherwise they are like every other company- use one of their services and they will keep trying to sell you others

Good luck
