Washing machine plumbing but no room to slot machine in

I have just got myself a rented flat, which is lovely…but the Landlord has had the kitchen gotten leaving no room for a normal sized washing machine and tells me I can either get a small washing machine or he’ll build a shed in the yard so I can wash my clothes outside, in the middle of winter. Nice one!

Is this allowed? He failed to mention this when I viewed and I only found out about the ‘gap’ he left when I signed and sealed on getting the keys.

Anyone?

Thanks

I am not familiar with space saving washing machines so done a quick search on Amazon and could only find machines with a standard width of 59.5 centimetres which fits in the space of a 60 cm cupboard. That’s not to say that they don’t exist. I agree, installing a washing machine inside a shed doesn’t sound good and would this be the most cost effective way to install it… Is it not possible for a single kitchen cupboard to be removed…

How big is the gap they have left?

I’d be considering taking a cupboard out myself to put in a washing machine. It’s standard practice to have space for one and if you viewed with a space for one and signed on that basis and there now isn’t, I’d be happy to take him to court over it if it went that far.

I may have misunderstood as I didn’t iunderstand what ‘gotten’ meant in this sentence. Are you saying you viewed with one kitchen with a w/m space & the Landslord has refitted a new kitchen without the space before you moved in?

I assumed it was a typo (autocorrect?) and that what you described was the case.
