Even if someone on this forum said what they think the likelihood of the issue is, it’s going to be kind of meaningless anyway without a professional electrician assessing the situation on-site. For example, if one of us said “oh it’s definitely the dishwasher” you would still need to get an electrician out to do a proper check on everything else. There are too many unknowns and legal risks for you not to.
I’ve had sockets fail due to appliance drawing too much current, causing excess heating of the socket. The appliance wasn’t actually faulty, the socket couldn’t handle the through ampage.
The thing is EICR was done not long ago, so i’d thought it must be the appliance? Because when i had electrician to check for tripping for something else. it was just a logical test to find out what is causing it and they just tell you replace your item.
Also dishwasher only requires like 10-13amps and it was ok for like 5 years.
Eicr is only as good as the tester. I’ve witnessed varying degrees of tests being carried out, from some that remove all socket faceplates and check, to those that skim through whole house in an hour. A considered eicr in a 3 bed semi should take half a day at least.
Normally it’s the appliance drawing to much power ,then heating the socket .
I am always surprised how most people still put the wrong fuse in a plug .
wrong fuse in a plug? i thought those comes with appliances and can’t be wrong?
i called up an electrician and was telling me if the plug blew it is just the plug got old, getting that replaced and that’s it. If the machine is faulty then the machine breaks not the plug.
Sounds making sense to me, but then i looked up his company it is company fixing appliances. so not sure if his conclusion is from his own position rather than from an electrician point of view.
any expert or electrician knows about this? I don’t want to end up getting tricked into paying for fixing the dishwasher plug and turns out it is not right and then had to buy a new one where i could of done it in the first place.
just get a part P qualified electrician to fix it and issue a certificate for the repair. It could be several things but make sure you check your water seals as its under the sink
